28 March
Camelia

I don't know about you but I've enjoyed having a few days off work. Time to visit family, do a bit of tidying up and archiving old photos.

I snipped this from the Camelia outside the kitchen window. There are two flower heads growing back to back so that isn't a reflection. I sat it on the lightbox, covered in white paper and used a Canon 420EX flash to light the top bloom. A bit too much light from the lightbox, I think.

So nice red. And the light of this shot is just perfect! I think that most important to a photographer is the eye that see things. You do have a photographic eye for sure.

I think it is a very nice image. The detail is very good.

Lots of photos of flowers today! Yours is very.. delicate :) Must be the soft background.

Archiving old photos is getting to be a full time job. I really need to get back to just one photo a day. Lovely image.

Strong image, agree with you and would like to see slightly less light from the lightbox to take away the transparency of the leaves.

Wait a cotton-picking minute.... light box??? Is this new?? I think the exposure is very nice here, maybe just a tad overexposed.

beautifully done

It is a little unbalanced with the light, but lovely nonetheless

an interesting flower, given its many laters and folds. i like that you included green leaves, and it adds a bit of calm to the more aggressive colors (red, black, white).

i agree with Lee with regards to the lighting. the lighting coming from the bottom is harsh and good for high key, but the lighting from the top (the flash) is soft. i think either a soft or hard light would work here, but that it should be used for both top and bottom.

Gorgeous image, Gail.

Very creative - not sure about too much, maybe high key would work if you could balance the light?

An awesome light. You deserve this flower.

Lovely shot, agree that a bit less from the lightbox would have given more balance.
