31 January 2009

I've been learning to paint on glass. Sounds easy doesn't it. Well there's the mixing of the paint and gum arabic - the proportions have to be exactly right and the paint dries out really quickly to you have to tend it all the time, topping it up with a little water and mixing it until it stands up like a small lump of jelly. Then you have to be able to paint! Luckily I can trace! This is before it goes in the kiln. I'll get it back on Tuesday and then I'll think about whether I want to embellish it.

LOL @ JW !! It sounds a painstaking process and that in itself is rewarding... roll on Tuesday!!!!

I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished result - does it change colours (like some paint on pottery after it's been burnt) or is that what it will look like afterwards?

How cool! It must be frustrating having to wait for the results to come back - isn't there a digital version that you can 'chimp' straight afterwards and glamblur or tweak the curves a bit? LOL!
