19 January 2009

On New Years Eve, when we found out that my Dad's operation had been a success, Mum, Jeremy and I headed home an opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate. I saved the cork and took it in to my Champ of a Dad. He wasn't impressed that he only got the cork - I'm keeping it safe haha.

I've had a rubbish day today. It took me TWO HOURS to get to work on the bus today ... 6 miles from my house. It only takes two hours to walk it door to door!!

Firstly, I am so pleased your father has had successful surgery and may he make just as successful a recovery! Of course, he may be more impressed if you cut into the cork, stick a coin in and wire the coin in, an old English tradition, apparantly.

You could just cycle to work and save yourself a loooong painful journey. It is nice, it is sporty, it burns the calories, it saves the planet! Although, traffic fumes in London could be one thing. Could you make some nice backstreet route?

I've always travelled on buses to both school and work so I have adapted a zen-like attitude to delays and traffic jams. That and a good book in your bag helps to stay calm. Trust me! :-)

Give him some grapes, Lucozade and a spoon to mix them with... champers substitute - can't be beaten :)
You're not having much luck with busses are you?? :)

Good news like that is worthy of being celebrated with a glass of Veuve! Keep another bottle for your Dad when he'll be able to taste it properly and enjoy it!

Wonderful news about your Dad. Not so good about the traveling though - you must be exhausted!
