This photo, taken by my father of the 1939 Grand Opening of Gone with the Wind, is an example
of the throngs of people who attended Grand Openings in cities such as Broadway NYC and Atlanta GA.
Photos (negatives) had to be delivered quickly to newspapers to meet deadlines. How did dad accomplish this when 18,000+ people packed the streets?
There were no electronics in those days so...he hired an ambulance to move quickly through the crowds.
