caterpillars

I discovered this group of caterpillars clinging to the underside of a dogwood leaf in my yard. Haven't been able to ID them yet.
Well, it turns out they aren't caterpillars after all! An ecologist friend innformed me they are sawfly larvae (exact species unknown). Sawflies are stingerless wasp-like flies. These guys are about 1.5 inches long. weird.

I've never seen a group like that, all curled up too. I see the dog though, it really does look like one...yellow tongue though 8^)

The one on the bottom left almost looks like it has a dog's face for a tail LOL Interesting pic!
