I agree with everyone that the background is very distracting. I used lasso (magnetic and free) to select the dogs and wagon, then inverted the selection and blurred it a little. I attempted to adjust the darkness/brightness of the dogs by using levels, curves, and/or shadow/highlight. This was tricky with the harsh lighting and shadows and I could only do so much. I adjusted the saturation down as well. I thought the other editor's croppings put the dogs too much in the center of the photo. With both of them looking off to the right, I thought more space in that direction was necessary. Finally some USM.

This one is much better mostly due to the tight crop. The dogs show a vast improvement considering the original harsh lighting.
I can just see where your lasso tool did not quite follow the edge on the black dogs rear leg but I still reckon this is the best one yet
