I think the crop is just right and the colour blending is spot on.
He seems to be in a threatening pose

I've processed it with some noise reduction, a touch of chromatic aberration removal , and a bit of sharpening. The misty feel might be due to ummm ... mist from the outflow of the lock operatious. (Chittenden Locks at Ballard, in Seattle, that is)

Lovely shot, Tim. It almost has a misty feel to it. Did you do somthing to the coloration? I like the effect.

Nice shot, Tim. You can almost hear the heron saying, "Just a little closer. . . ."

Thanks, Ed.

I had considered cropping a bit more from the right, but decided not to. I thought the extra room was needed to give the appearance of the heron looking off to the right and it didn't seem to work in a more square image. I think if his (her?) head were looking more down that might work.

Thanks for looking and feedback.
Tim

Good sharpness. Why not crop off a bit at right side?
