Chuck G

I've been shooting baseball action shots for a few years, but just started shooting Ice Hockey in the past month. This was my third game, and I'm finally able to capture the action fairly consistantly. The FZ's auto-focus is definitely MUCH faster than the focus on my Olympus C-2100UZ and E-100RS. I got a bunch of fast break action shots, not a single one used pre-focus, and the camera was able to focus and take the pic in time.

Certainly caught the facial expression in focus.

Very impressive Chuck. For the 1/160 you do have very sharp picture, practically without a blur

The lighting here wasn't very good either. The shots were very dark right from the camera. I used Neat Image to remove some grain, and then pushed the levels in photoshop. As for the focus, I had the camera set on the large spot focus, and panned with the while pressing the shutter button.

I'm impressed Chuck. I take alot of hockey shots of my son in a dimly lit arena. I always prefocus on an area then wait for the action, I'll have to give the auto focus a try next time.
