Bloodroot and Balsam Fir

FWG

I was in the Ash Woodlot this afternoon to weed Garlic Mustard as we always do at this time of year. I was struck by how great the woods look and how much it's changed in the last 20 years since the FWG was established. Compare this photo - with its clumps of bloodroot and false Solomon's seal, balsam fir trees and elderberry shrubs - with this one, http://www.pbase.com/fwg/image/121215556, taken in 1991. (Sandy)

Wow the difference is amazing! I wish more people would understand the importance of native planting.
