Northern Cardinal female
A very painterly image of the female cardinal from Diane. Diane notes: "The birds I saw coming to the feeders were Black-capped Chickadees, cardinals, Red-breasted Nuthatch, House Finches, Downy Woodpeckers and the most interesting was to see that the White-throated Sparrow was still around."

White-throated Sparrow
A lovely photo by Diane of this sparrow that forgot to head south in autumn and has been at the garden since. Two have been reported, but I've only ever seen one.

Pileated Woodpecker work
Diane found very fresh evidence of a Pileated Woodpecker working on some of the trees. Here you can see a large hole. A Pileated has been hanging around the garden for several months.

Sharp-Shinned Hawk
A gorgeous visitor to the garden, photograped by Diane. Needless to say, the appearance of this hawk caused all other birds to vanish!

House Finch, male
One of a small flock of House Finches Diane saw at the garden on a cold, but sunny day. This vividly coloured male is puffed up against the windy chill.
