Amphibian Pond Bridges

Over the years, we've had several bridges across the eastern end of the pond, across the dam in fact, with the ravine on the east and the pond on the west. The first few were made by our volunteers and were fairly simple affairs, but very serviceable. However, in the winter of 2007/2008, water was higher than normal and water across the path dislodged the bridge. In 2009, things seemed stable again, but we knew that eventually we'd have to replace the bridge and we did, but with a very different design. The new one has railings and is much longer and higher, and was professionally built. We like it very much! However, before the bridge was replaced, we needed to rebuild the dam, and that was done in 2010. The photos in this gallery show the old bridge and the new.
