"La Puerta del Sol"
Ni bien llegué al hotel me dí un baño y me fuí a caminar, y este fué uno de los primeros lugares históricos que encontré... Este lugar marca el comienzo de todas las carreteras de España (Km. 0), y su nombre se origina por ser uno de los accesos a la ciudad por allá en el siglo XV. Hay varias cosas interesantes alrededor: como La estatua de Carlos III, "la Casa de Correos", la estatua del "Oso y el Madroño"...

As soon as I arrived to the hotel took a shower and went away to walk, and this one was the first of the historical places I found... this place marks the beginning of all the roads of Spain (km 0), and his name originates for being one of the accesses to the city in the 15th century. Street / Calle
La mayoría de las calles en este sector de la ciudad muestra esa linea continua de edificios antiguos, muchos de ellos transformados ahora en museos, o en comercios de todo tipo, desde comida rápida y hoteles hasta sex-shops...

Front / Fachada
Pero lo que atrapa las miradas son las fachadas de estos edificios, son espectáculares, sería difícil escoger una favorita... aquí el arte se siente con cada paso, cada edificio es una obra de arte en sí...

Roofs / Techos
Si vemos hacia arriba nos encontraremos con verdaderas obras maestras en cada techo, ¡que diferencia con los de ahora! que sólo tienen un montón de antenas... no sé en que año habrán realizado la monumental tarea de subir esas obras hasta allá, pero incluso ahora se necesitaría una muy buena logística y bastante habilidad para lograrlo.

Door / Puerta
Y eso sin contar lo que se puede ver en cada puerta, hay detalles y acabados asombrosos, el simple hecho de ir de puerta en puerta ya da la sensación de estar en un museo...

Street musician / Músico callejero
Siendo un destino turístico tan importante, y con una agitada vida callejera a toda hora, no pueden faltar los músicos callejeros quienes con su talento alegran la caminata de los visitantes, o en mi caso el almuerzo, y de esa forma obtienen honrádamente algo para su sustento.

Mención aparte se llevan estos buses panorámicos, cuyo colorido contrasta con el aire serio y señorial de las edificaciones del centro, nos brinda un cambio en el paisaje, y claro... si buscas uno es difícil que no lo encuentres.

Street in repair / Calle en reparación
Aquí y allá, y con cierta frecuencia se consiguen secciones de calles o edificios en reparación, mas de una vez me tocó contonearme para pasar al lado de un andamio, pero supongo que es algo que no se puede evitar para mantener en buena forma una ciudad como Madrid.

A place to rest / Un lugar para descansar
Increiblemente sin alejarme mucho del centro me encontré con este lugar donde ya se respiran aires de modernidad, edificios con lineas diferentes, cristales y una pequeña plaza con flores y vegetación, bancos para descansar e incluso una pequeña ave revoloteando entre las ramas...

A place to play / Un lugar para jugar
niños jugando en un parque infantil, despreocupados sobre las diferencias existentes entre los diferentes lugares del mundo, viviendo sólo el "ahora" y haciendo lo que mejor hacen, ser felices... a mí en este punto ya me dolían los pies de tanto caminar...
