Thanks to David Mutter for allowing use of his Grist Mill photo in this Innographx photo art challange. David retains the U.S. and international copyright © not only for the original image, but also for any photo-art versions of it such as this. The photo was so good, I hated to even try altering it. No way to improve upon perfection. Yet, working on it gave me a chance to enjoy the image even longer than a quick look at the photo on site.
I cloned some waterfall spray from the rocks above the fountain to start the water pattern at the top of the wheel, then cloned down using the same area of water and varying opacity, some smuding and softening then converted the photo to an oil effect so all appeared in the same texture and depth. I increased saturation on the colors of plants, grass and trees and added a touch of white water to the pool below, again cloning the white from the top of the pool. All in all, I changed the image but didnt improve on it in any way. I love the original and hope to go to this location some day to take photos of it myself.
