Well, my efforts at stopping time have failed me again. Ian turned 6 today. Why can't they stay 5 forever? Would that be so bad? He's potty trained, feeds himself without causing too big of a mess, can dress himself to match every now and then, and still has the time of day to give his old man a hug and a kiss without being forced.
We had an awesome day today, just as we had planned for the most part. We did stay home for breakfast instead of eating out. We opened presents first thing this morning after we all got up and the kids had arrived. Then Ian and I made our way over to the park to play for a while. He chose the activity, tennis. He's got this strange urge to play the game, so we're going to encourage it as much as we can. Afterwards, we walked around and took some pictures while he played. We made sure to do our Daddy/Ian shot and his shot on the motorcycle that we take every year. I don't know what we'll do if they ever tear that out, but we're going to keep taking the shot as long as it's there. We made our way back in time to sing happy birthday at 11:25am, and then had lunch and birthday brownies.
There are shots posted in Ian's new year 7 gallery, go take a looksie.

I'm so proud of all he's done so far and can only imagine what he'll be capable of doing tomorrow.
I just wish he didn't have to get any older to be able to do those things.
Happy Birthday, buddy.
