The Future of Photography

Well, at least for me. I've decided I want to go completely without a pc. I'm tired of all the
complicated color profiling. The clunky desktop and huge monitor. The overkill of PS3,4,5,6...

My eventual goal is to edit all my photos on a tablet. Most likely whatever current iPad there
is. The problem lies in importing my Canon camera pics into the editing environment and the
storage of my complete archive. I haven't got it all worked out, but here's a start. This shot
was taken Strobist style with a voice activated light stand. 5 shots to get what I wanted.
I then uploaded the raw jpg into pbase using said clunky desktop, and saved and edited in
Snapseed like all my other iPhone shots. Then posted here. I'm sure at some point there will
have to be some sort of Dropbox or cloud storage involved.

But for now, it's guerrilla style. Whatever works.

nice result here my friend.Lightroom is pretty awesome,and as fast as you like it.I never use PS anymore.

Listen brother...that's the problem, hours at the keyboard. For my PaD I cull my pictures to no more than 5 for the day and then pick one to edit. I never edit more than 1 for a PaD. Make your shots count, just like film. I really need you guys to do this with me. We need to be feeding off each other and if you are just using an iPhone and an iPad you are so severely limiting your creativity. You are so much better than that.

Have no idea what you are talking about. Just happy you are back & I get pictures of the family. You'd do good work if it was a old Brownie box.

I have always tried to get it right in the camera, and truth us I spend very little time in post. When you shoot all the events at Mosaic Place you have to get them up that day or the next. I have streamlined my workflow so that it is very manageable, but I must say Snapseed works very well for ipad and iphone....well done JB hope to see more braVo..Mike

Are you thinking Apple? Is Snapseed similar to PS?(except it's on line) I think you need to keep a computer for that what ever moment! Like the shot and the light!

To get back to a point where I will truly enjoy photography again, it's a mobile platform or nothing. When I find something cool to shoot with the iPhone, it's simple enough to edit and post in less than 5 minutes. I just can't spend hours at a pc editing snapshots anymore.

ipad is not (in my mind) an editing platform. I am a goof when it comes to post. Most people would cringe at my methods. My back ups, my handling of files-but I am not doing this but for fun.

There are cloud based offerings JB. but once you get over so many Megs, the cost start going UP. I was at Costco yesterday and 4 TERRABYTE drives are 19 bucks. I remember paying 400 bucks for a 250 Gig drive.

Yeas, change is in the wind, your reality will soon be available in a could to 5 years!....
