So I took this long trip from England to Romania by car with my new host Adrian and his family! Frankly speaking I didn't know anything about Romania before arriving here, except something about the legend of Count Dracula, I hope to not meet him here in Bucharest, anyway.But I have already learnt a lot of things...According to legend, Bucharest was founded by a shepherd called Bucur , who built a settlement amid the Vlasia forest. It was recorded as a nameless "citadel on the Dāmbovita" in 1368, and named as Bucharest in an edict from the time of Vlad the Impaler( another nice guy I hope to not meet here...) Adrian ( not the Impaler, but the Photographer) has been a perfect guide for me, beside being a pleasant friend and thougthful host I have been really lucky to meet him and his adorable family Give a look at his photo galleries on Pbase, you'll see more pictures of Romania, and many other interesting places! Cool & funny way of presenting everything - original & entertaining, I must say... :) I like it, 'mate' :) pretty little fluffy teddy bear... :) oh, well, enough blurb, I suppose, but felt like leaving a positive comment, that's all... :) By-the-way, Vlad the Impaler and 'Count Dracula' are one and the same person (just for your info). 'Count Dracula' is Vlad The Impaler's nickname (nice nickname, very posh eh? lol), and that's for his cruelty while he was a ruler, because he used to punish some people (thieves usually) with very terrible & terrifying deaths, his favourite being impaling [such as sticking someone alive into a big spike (I think it was wooden and very sharp at the top), and then pulling that person through, with the aid of a rope or something like that (it must’ve hurt like HELL.-lol-just about enough as to put off the thieves & unjustice, at least for a while…) - I am hoping this explanation is ok, not too sure about the wording etc].

Dear Adrian. There is way much more to romania than Bucharest and Dracula. By the Way Vlad the Impaler and Dracula are one and the same person. But Vlad was a good guy and Dracula was just the product of imagination of an english wrighter, Bram Stoker. I hope next time you and your teddy bear will extend the visit and the knowledges about Romania. I am romanian and I travel a lot but most of the times I try to get a little bit more about the places I go. Amusing pictures anyway.
