The Monument of The Warsaw Uprising 1944,
was unveiled the day of the forty-fifth anniversary
of the uprising on August 1, 1989.

It commemorates the heroic uprising of the Polish civilians
against the Nazis and is dedicated to those who fought and lost their lives.

The uprising, which began on August first and lasted for sixty-three days, was doomed
to failure. About 200 000 Polish people died.
