From the 13th century, Klaipeda suffered invasions by German feudal lords and the Teutonic Order.
In a move to consolidate its governance over the territory, in 1252 the Order erected a castle on the delta of the river Danė, named it Memelburg (or Memel)
and used it to control the strait between the mainland and the Curonian Spit.
So, here we see merchants'warehouses of typical German style.
Beer restaurant Memelis is there nowadays.

While Aiste was taking a photo of me outside the restaurant,
a couple walked toward us.
They asked Aiste if it would have been possible to have a picture taken with her bear.
She explained that it was not her bear
and told them about me, that is Frimpong.
The guy, called Andrius knew about me and was so happpy to meet me in Lithuania.
