At the end of winter here in Lithuania they have a festival called UZGAVENES.
It's a mixture of pagan and catholic traditions.
Then people put on different costumes, masks,
eat lots of heavy food since they should be fasting before the Easter.
They play games, dance a lot (folk dances),
then it would become warmer and winter would leave faster.
At the end of such festival people burn a huge fat lady which symbolizes winter.
In this way they show winter
that it had stayed here too long and it's time to leave.
