Estaminet means "Small café".
Many cafés are actually called like that in Belgium.
It comes probably from Walloon èstaminê, staminê, cowshed, little café,
maybe from stamen, post to which a cow is tied at the feeding trough,
of Germanic origin.
But he point is that, in spite of my good education, they don't let me get inside!
