I pulled out a map to try to get a sense of the size of the province of Ontario.
At over 415,000 sq miles ( 1 million sq km ) it takes up both sides of the map page.
This side of the map is Southern Ontario where the bulk of the population resides.
I was amazed by the number of lakes throughout the province especially the group called the Great Lakes
which form the largest group of freshwater lakes on earth.
Toronto is located on Lake Ontario, which is the large lake by my legs in the picture.
