Memories of my loves
I never got married, but you must not consider me a kind of old spinster.
I have voluntarily decided to remain single, because like my nephew Frimpong, I value my own independence too highly.
I like paraphrasing my ancestor Oscar Bearwilde saying that the happiness of a married lady depends on the people she has not married.
Men marry because they are tired, women because they are curious; both are disappointed.
Nevertheless being unmarried doesn’t mean living without knowing passions and romances....
I have already told you I’m a lady of experience and have met many extraordinary gentlemen in my life who considered me as an ideal beloved one.
Sometimes I like thinking of past times and looking at the photos of my former boyfriends.
I have nice memories of all of them....

My nephew Frimpong Bear on his graduation day
My beloved nephew, Mr. Frimpong Bear, graduated with full marks and honours in Travellingbearology and Litearature at Oxford University!
I was very proud of him.
I prepared 100 jars of his favourite jam for him, with a special secret recipe, which I cannot reveal to you, even though I’m ready to share all my other recipes.
Frimpong’s favourite jam is the delicious
“Violet’s special honey and beer jam”
He can eat a whole jar of it in a few minutes!

Baby Frimpong Bathing
Eh, it was not the age of digital photography yet...
I had only a small camera and this photo was taken with a cheap colour film.
Then Frimpong, already as a baby, always wanted to move around, to change place, to discover, so I could not leave him in his bath without control, even for the short time necessary to take a photo.
I apologize for the bad quality of this old snapshot, but those were the days....

Old photo of Baby Frimpong
My beloved nephew, Mr. Frimpong Bear, lost both his parents when he was just a baby and I brought him up with all my love.
I always repeat him:
“My dear nephew, to lose one parent may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.”

My humble abode.
I’m starting my diary on this sunny dlate summer day.
You can see me here in my garden, with my cottage on the background.
I have been living here since I retired, several years ago (but I will not reveal my age; I’m a lady).
My life has been interesting and full of various experience. I think all the members of our Bear family have this special skill for life.
I’ll share with you some memories of my life little by little, if you are so kind to occasionally read my diary.
Before my retirement I had worked for a rather long time as a governess and housekeeper in Lord Algernon Moncrieff’s service.
I could exercise all my talents as a refined cook and also learn a lot about human nature.
“The only thing that one really knows about human nature is that it changes. Change is the one quality we can predict.”
But I also think there are some features one can be able to recognize after a while.
