The Jon Stewart/ Stephen Colbert Rally drew close to a quarter of a million people. The photographs were taken as the rally progressed. The crowds were so dense that I could not get close to the stage, they were so large that not much could be heard from the stage. I took photos as I made my way to Constitution Avenue and to the Newseum where a) I could get a good view of the areas around the rally and b) the whole event was shown live on a huge screen inside the Newseum. The gallery therefore combines shots of the live screen in the Newseum with shots in and around the crowds. More genuinely witty posters than any rally I have attended.
