Face covered with soot, his suit remarkably clean, Santa moves into high gear before making his rounds. He set these groups up in his studio at the North Pole having the tripod mounted camera record an image every 15 seconds. fixed focus point, center weighted meter and bags of merriment.

Featured with me in this gallery are some of my students, some current, some back from university. It is a tradition at my school to have a Santa shoot at Christmastime in my office/studio.

My own kids are now at university. Twenty one years ago (my hair was white even then) I had my older son in a pouch slung over my shoulder so that he was up against my chest. Across from us was a mother and her 2 year old child and the child would not stop looking at me. He tugged his mother's sleeve and said "Mommy, LOOK! It's Santa Claus!" Yes, yes, his mother replied, not really paying attention. "No Mommy....I mean the REAL Santa Claus." She looked up at me and smiled wearily. From that moment on that's who I became at this time of year. I never wear the hat, but I love the hood.

Total excitement! Creating smiles in an offbeat sort of way.... ....but, hey, it doesn't always work for evreyone! In fact, it sometimes has the opposite effect! Bigger kids, bigger stockings?
Nope, smaller ones, sorry guys! Hey, Fred, it clicked 15 seconds ago! Another handy shot. Get ready, just when you don't expect it....... Gotcha!
Turn your head..... ....and those glasses HAVE to be mine! Speaking of glasses...two pairs? Hmmmm.... What do you think? Are you ready?
Deep discussion on stocking contents.... Brother and sister, he at University she here at school ...and in comes Jack, back from UC Santa Cruz. Another one of those stocking discussions! ...and a fond farewell
Digging in! Nada! Hold for a few more days! American Gothic. ...and for our librarian who used to be a student here! ..if the hat fits.
Caught red handed! So, Santa can really get tough with Grinches! Naughty or nice??????? Nice!! Will I join you for a picture? Absolutely!
Hands up! Stockings CAN sometimes get in the way! That is until they're not. Smile! Shock and Awe, no, no, Shock and Joy!
Just a little more this way! Serious music.. Any thoughts? Now this really works for a fatigued Santa All back from University except the two girls back right.
All ya need is love! Dashing off. All back to visit their old high school, how cool! Elves at the ready! Santa-header.jpg
