_MG_0517 League of NH Crafts Fair - 74th year ! 2007

Sunapee NH

I have been at the fair as an exhibitor since a week ago today.
One more day to go with so so sales so far. (I think gas prices
the sock market had an effect). I did win the rather prestigious
"Best Two Dimensional Design" Award for the second time in about
5 years (click URL below) . A judge from NYC came up to
judge a special jurried section of one room in the ski lodge and it
took her 9 hours to pick 30 winners in various categories. This "2d" category
included any craft in a frame, etchings, silk screen, etc. So I was pleased
to see photography win, as the league has now banned further digital
photographers to be juried into the league (I am grandfathered).

"...Better yet, Fred, start your own competing league and have it open to all photographers."

I LIKE that idea. Open up a fresh can of whoop-ass.

A pity such traditionalist dinosaurs have that much influence. If decisions were left to that kind of mentality, we'd all still be living in caves. They will eventually have to change their policy when film is no longer available and digital entries are the only choice left. Narrow-sighted morons.

Better yet, Fred, start your own competing league and have it open to all photographers.

I sure don't understand the logic of any photographic organization that would ban digital photography. Are the film guys feeling threatened? :-) Love this image Fred, I thought I was looking at a hot air balloon at first.

"as the league has now banned further digital photographers to be juried into the league (I am grandfathered)."

I have no idea what that means or what its significance may be but it sounds rather "narrow-minded" of this "league."

As for this image, It is a fine one in most respects. My only nit is with the metal pole. It seems a bit distracting to me and draws the (my) eye to it which is then led out of the frame.
