Good view of the new "passageway" that attaches the house
to the lighthouse. Many lighthouses had this type
attachment in the past, but they became in disrepair
and were ruined by weather and/or torn down as lighthouse
keepers often did not stay on in the winter. This passageway
was reconstructed by the Kennebunkport Conservation Committee exactly from
the original drawings. It took 6 years to get approvals
and the cost to build was over a million dollars to complete.
