In the 19th Century shoe manufacturing was a thriving industry
in Holliston (MA). Said to be the largest in the country at one time.
There were several shoe factories depending on part time help from
local farmers and other local people. These people obtained pre-
cut leather and other materials from the factories for assembly in
their homes. This is one such surviving shop about 150 years old.
An important historical acquisition for the society.
