There is a more subtle message here; by "Implying" the tree with just the shadow rather than showing the tree itself directly gives a sense that the tree is "illusory as a shadow" unless they take action to save it.

Brilliant image for the Conservancy; they are crazy if don't select it..

Good thought Zane. I had to scrunch down so as to not be part of the shadow myself, and still get the top of the shadow where I wanted it on the sky line.

I like this one for it's bold simplicity; we are then implored to explore "what is different" within the general symmetry.

(You must have been crouching inside of the trunk's shadow to avoid adding your shadow to the image?)
