Block Island is located a 13 mile ferry ride south of the Rhode Island shoreline. It is about 6 miles by 2.5 miles, with 22 miles of paved roads. A popular vacation spot except in winter, bikes and mopeds are the favorite means of transportation. The average house must be well over one million dollars and boats just a little less. I like to call it "Blocked Island", as it would seem that most of the very good views are from a home at the end of a long dirt road marked "Private!"
