We spent the day flying to Coldfoot Camp (approx. 60 miles north of the Arctic circle) and from there visiting Wiseman, a subsistence village (living off the grid) that has a year-round population of about 14. What a different kind of life. I like the juxtaposition of old and new, and everything being kept and creatively reused. See those solar panels on the roof? And the old headboard from a bed used to grow vegetables? It was a very interesting and humbling experience ... I wouldn't survive two days there in the winter ...
