18 January 2006

We moved one of the bird feeders (the one that was raided and emptied by squirrels on a daily basis) downstairs in front of my office window and added chili powder to the seeds to deter squirrels. The squirrels love their new spicy food ... doesn't seem to work as a deterrent at all. Anyway, you'll likely see some more photos that I take from within the office, kneeling on the floor, with the window open (do the neighbors think I'm nuts yet? Absolutely!) since DPChallenge just announced a wildlife challenge. Although, their "Tribute" challenge (tribute to a famous photog) sounds interesting, too. I may shoot images for both and then see what I like better :)

Post-processing was neatimage (dreary day = high ISO = lots of noise) and curves and levels. Plus cloning out the usual dustspots. I really should clean my sensor again. :) Shame I cut off the squirrel's tail. Maybe next time I get a full shot.

I love squirrels, but I can *NEVER* get a good close shot of them.. EVER.

I have some tricks I can try in the spring though, now.

Nice capture too, btw.

Chili powder you say, hmmmm. Dissapointed to hear it didn't work, as I coulda used it. I can't seem to keep these guys out of our birdfeeder. I don't really mind them that much though. They're much more enteraining then the birds are anyways. Lovely colors. :-)
