"The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster," the title of her newest release, is no mere marketing hype. It is in fact, the very words that fans across the nation use when they hear Ruthie perform. Often compared to Aretha Franklin, one learns that Ruthie's voice and style are more than a one-on-one comparison. Upon listening closely to her for two shows, I walked away feeling as though if I just took a smattering of Aretha, along with some of Tracy Chapman, Sam Cooke and Anita Baker, then mixed them thoroughly, along with a very liberal dose of Ruthie's own style, I'd be able to take her home in my pocket. As it is, I'll have to settle for her CDs, along with these photos. I had a blast shooting these, I hope you enjoy them.
