This is Mono Lake. A very interesting place at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. This lake in the "end" of a closed drainage basin and therefore has some interesting evaporite features (all water flowing in can only leave by evaporation). The lake also part of a HUGE but not obvious volcanic feature called the Long Valley Caldera.. you get a pretty good description here:
