Tillamook Air Museum

The Tillamook Air Museum is located in a wooden 1942 blimp hangar built at the Naval Air Station on the Oregon coast. (The air station was decommissioned in 1948) The hangar was one of 17 hangers built around the US coastlines to house the K-class blimps used for anti-submarine coast patrol and convoy escort.

Two of these hangers were built side-by-side at Tillamook: One burned down after after the war due to hay being stored in the hangar catching fire.

Eight blimps were regularly housed in one hanger. The planes being housed in the hangar today are considered one of the finest collections of privately owned WWII flying aircraft in the country.
