These colorful fields near San Diego are on a 50-acre hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. They are full of millions of buttercup-like "Giant Tacolote Ranunculus" flowers. The bulbs ("tubers", or rhizomes) of these flowers are sold throughout the world. When first planted 85 years ago, the flowers were single petal and ranged in shades of red and yellow. Today, colors abound. Gardens along the pathways to the fields also include beautiful roses and other varieties.
