In memory of all those who attempted in vain to reach our shores and ended up losing their lives at sea, this monument, almost five meters high and three meters wide, made of refractory ceramic and galvanized iron by the sculptor Mimmo Paladino, was erected between Cala Spugne and the Porto Vecchio. The work, inaugurated on June 28, 2008, was sponsored by the Lampedusan association Alternativa Giovani, Amani, and Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori.
