I followed the exact route provided in the pamphlet, "Birding Drives Dakota" for the Jamestown to Chase Lake National Wildlife Refuge. All of the roughly 100 miles is on dusty gravel roads with the final path to Chase Lake being, what I would call, a wagon trail. (High clearance vehicle recommended) But the effort was well worth it - a very peaceful, quiet drive among nature.
Great photos..... I especially like the American Avocet. Check out my American White Pelican photos taken in Arkansashttp://www.pbase.com/wsbranham/white_pelicans. Some of these might be the same ones you shot in N. Dakota.
