Cool Custom
I really like this custom 1951 Mercury. Back in my single days I had a 51 Merc, but it sure didn't look like this one.

Strangely Beautiful
I don't know what this flower is but it seems to grow wild around here, unless it spread from gardens. etc. Anyway, I found it to be unusual and yet quite beautiful. Anyone know what the name is?
Thank you to those who identified the flower as 'Nigella' (Love in a Mist)

Red-Eared Slider Family
These red-eared sliders were sunning themselves at Delta Ponds today. The red-eared slider is an invasive aquatic turtle species that is common at the Delta Ponds. Their presence at the ponds is important because they compete with the native western pond turtle for food and basking sites.
Perhaps one thing that contributed to the arrival of the red-eared sliders is that it is most popular and well known domesticated pet turtle in the United States and perhaps the world.

Old Spikes in Rotting Wood
These old spikes caught my eye, rust covered in the sunlight. Makes a person wonder about the history behind them.
(Kenny is correct. They are bolts, instead of spikes!)

Walking At Dorris Ranch
I have always liked silhouettes done right. I liked this one of people enjoying the trails at Dorris Ranch. Hopefully, it was done right! :)
Dorris Ranch is an operating filbert (hazelnut) farm here in Springfield. It is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is now a public park complete with walking trails and natural areas. SEE -

Heron Harassment
The stream in Alton Baker Park is planted with fish on Thursdays by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. So today was a good day for fishing. The herons were out trying to steal fish from those fishing there. These two got into a little dispute over territory and fish..

On The Bridge
The angles and lines of a bridge can be intriguing. This is Ferry Street Bridge in Eugene, OR. The bridge is located where a ferry crossing was established by Eugene's founder, Eugene Skinner, in the 1850's. In the 1880s, Skinner's Ferry had given way to the more permanent Ferry Street Bridge, which today crosses the river at virtually the same spot.

Defenceless!
This fence is supposed to be there to keep people back from a place where a small waterway goes underground in a huge pipe to empty in the river. If you ask me it is de-fence-less when it comes to doing any good. It makes a nice photo though. :)

Pals in the Park
I was drawn immediately to this scene of a man with his dog, enjoying the park together. This is the east end of Alton Baker Park
SEE,
http://www.willamalane.org/pages/parks/eastgate.shtml - "The Eastgate Woodlands is a triangle of green along the Willamette River at the eastern-most end of the Whilamut Natural Area of Alton Baker Park, an urban greenway connecting the communities of Eugene and Springfield. Willamalane Park and Recreation District manages the Eastgate Woodlands as a natural area and recreational corridor. There are plentiful opportunities for walking, bicycling, jogging, boating, and nature appreciation."

Handsome Little Dickens
I just couldn't resist shooting a portrait of this cute little squirrel. He seemed like a youngster, its tail hasn't filled out completely. Its belly is reddish but the coat is gray. I thought perhaps it is a gray squirrel, which we do see in Alton Baker Park, where I got this photo. But it could be that the red squirrels starts out with a grayish coat that turns reddish. This little fellow seems to have a lot of red on its body.

Colorful Redwing Blackbird
The Redwing Blackbird is such a beauty! We see them in Alton Baker Park and Delta Ponds this time of year singing for a mate. I captured this one in what I consider a very pretty setting.

Black, White and Color
These two white flowers jumped out at me against a dark background. I love the contrasts.
