I am always glad to see my old friends, the herons. We have them here year round so I don't lack for seeing them. I find them fascinating, so big and graceful in the air. And the impressive wingspan of six feet fills me with wonder. On the ground they are skilled at fishing. I watched this one for a little while, until a fisherman came to the bank where I stood and scared it away.
