1957 Ford Fairlane 500

Back when this car was new, I was a young single guy of 21. For me, it was a dream car! And one like this is what I wanted, a 2-door hardtop! Alas, I never got one and I went on to other dream cars too. But I never lost my affection for one like this.

I needed to get to the gas station for a fill-up today and, while I was sitting there as the dollars rang up, this beauty, looking just like new, pulled up and waited for its turn at the pumps. What a beauty! I looked online for one like it and found one with the same color located back in Michigan for sale for $36,995. - https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1228981/1957-ford-fairlane-500-for-sale-in-cadillac-michigan-49601; You wouldn't have $37,000 I could borrow, would you? LOL

Great memories for you. This sure was a classic, but for $37,000 I'd prefer something with AC, comfortable seats and suspension, etc.

A terrific shot, Vern. A Ford Fairlane of that era is what my family drove in on our move from Michigan to California when I was two. Ours was all white, and I can't recall if it was two-door or four-door, but may have been like this one. I particularly remember the fins at the back and the little "wing" windows in the front.

Sweet car. Fairlane was the (still is) the name of Henry Ford's estate in Dearborn, MI (I grew up in MI).

My parents had good friends who were sort of the patrons of the small town in which we lived. I recall when this guy bought a Fairlane - loved the car. Only weeks later Ford came out with the upgraded model, the Fairlane 500. More amenities and more status. He was so mad he demanded a refund. [Never got it.]

When I was 8 years old, my father bought this car's twin. It was his 1st brand new car. I still remember that the yellow paint color was called Inca Gold. Thanks for letting me reminisce with this nice shot.
