The Picture Tells the Story!

The country road past our home seems to have its share of accidents. In fact, we were hit by a vehicle pulling out to pass a truck after we had entered the roadway. But this particular accident involved only one vehicle that you can see in the trees in the center of the picture. The red vehicle is from the fire department and the fellow sitting on the grass to the left is the driver of the pickup in the trees. For some reason he left the road, went in the ditch, came out over a driveway and then into the trees after hitting the power pole seen behind the red vehicle. The pickup is still in the trees today. I don't know, maybe he can't afford to have it pulled out. I am surprised he wasn't really hurt.

I wonder if he blacked out just before going off the road.

What a story! I can't believe he survived all that. And he should have been driving more carefully to start with.

My guess is they won't pull the vehicle out until the utility company can secure the pole... but just my fist thought as it should be impounded by police at first I think

A daily(everywhere)but sad story.

People drive like this here, too. Drivers are constantly ending up in ditches for who-knows-what reason. Things get even worse when it rains; even just sprinkles. I'm not native to our city. Cars in ditches all other the place was one of main things I noticed when we moved here. Those cars seem to just stay there for a while, too. Just like this truck. Frankly, some of the really weird driving patterns in the Metro really scare me when I'm in a car on the roads. They scare me even more when I'm forced to walk on roads like this (no sidewalks) just to get exercise. That guy in your photo really hit the power pole hard, didn't he? Recently, a driver in the Metro here went up on the sidewalk (where there was a sidewalk), continued almost two blocks through a solid, privacy fence, knocking the fence down as he went, and finally ended up back on the sidewalk where he ran over an innocent, little girl walking home from school. When questioned about why this happened, the driver answered, "I guess the car just got away from me." Unbelievable!!! The driver in your photo seems pretty laid back about the entire situation. Did he have a child with him?
