Wait, There's Supposed to be Four in This Sculpture!

This sculpture in downtown Eugene is a tribute to author, Ken Kesey, who grew up on Eugene. There are four figures in the sculpture, three children and the storyteller, Ken Kesey. As I came on the scene, I recognized there was an extra figure. So I approached and shot the picture. I felt a bit sad for the homeless person. There were others back behind me and I figured they were all together. So I quietly walked away.

Maybe she was hearing stories in her head to cushion the misery of being homeless.

Good shot. Gotta be careful with groups, violence might not be far beneath the surface.

A very good capture of the scene! We saw quite a few homeless people (most by choice) in Key West, Florida. I figured that these were the smartest homeless people in the country, as the weather is perfect all year.

A rather creepy image Vern. So sad to see people living on the streets in our country; just shouldn't happen here!
Graeme26-Oct-2014 21:42
I cannot imagine what it is to be alone on the street with no family to care for you. Seeking the warmth from the figurers and friendly faces and a scene of being a part of it. Still a sadness for the viewer....

perhaps this person craves a family's warmth and presence, and the sculptures sort of filled the bill...a moving moment well caught..

Great "street photography."

As an old HR type, I am always tempted to ask the homeless, "what's your employability plan?"
