The Common (European) Starling is long known in history, according to Wikipedia. However, it is a relative newcomer to our shores, at least to Oregon. It has become somewhat of a nuisance here, as it is bigger than a lot of our native birds and takes food away from them. It is about the size of our Western Scrub Jay, also a noisy visitor that will eat up our bird feed. Both can be entertaining. This one was photographed in our backyard.
