Fishing Buddies

It may look like they are fishing buddies, but the fact of the matter is that the heron was there to steal a fish or two. :)
Rainbow trout were planted in Alton Baker Park today and so the fishermen and herons were there to fish.

It's amazing the heron stays so close to the fisherman. They don't let me get that close with a camera.

I used to fish at a local lake, and the cormorants would dive down, come up with a trout, shake it in our fact, then swallow it head first. It is amazing how fast Great Blue Herons are when they strike.
