Bet You Can't Do This!

According to my bird book, the Greater Yellowlegs is more commonly seen in the Far West than the Lesser Yellowlegs. So I concluded this is a Greater Yellowlegs. It looked to be large enough to be so. I was pleased to catch the bird as it started to take off.

Nikon D7000 ,AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
1/1000s f/5.6 at 300.0mm iso1800 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is the money shot Vern...! National Geographic perhaps...?! Certainly any or all of the birder books or magazines would DIE to have this shot on their pages....! Go for it my friend...! How do you get your D7000 to handle an ISO of 1800 without any apparent noise? I have the same camera and have a bit of trouble with that high an ISO...!

Something must have spooked it. It is usually difficult to stop them from foraging. I agree with your ID.
