Pretty Little Robin

I did some research about the American Robin, perhaps one of our most loved Arican birds. What I didn't know is that it is one of the most common and widespread North American thrush. Though common, I consider them beautiful, as was this one. I think this is a female, it has brown wings.

You caught him in such great light, and with his typical jaunty attitude showing. :) Wonderful shot.

A fine shot of it. My Dad had a pair nest on the back side of their house this Spring. He spent many an hour in the sun-room watching them. They are adult size now, but you can easily tell from their markings and tail with ones are they juveniles.

In our part of North America, the Robin is one of the first bird "singning" the arrival of Spring and most welcomed to do so. Well done Vern !

I never realized the Robin was a member of the Thrush family Vern. They may be the most common bird but we never seen to see them here in SoCal. When I lived in WI they were plentiful and the first one heralded the coming of spring. When I lived in FL we would see them stop over on their way north for the summer so I could tell my mother that the Robins and spring were on their way.
