Nikon D3 at ISO 25,600!

This photo of downtown Springfield was taken in the dark at ISO 25,600 with my Nikon D3.
The only light available was that coming from the street. There is noise at 25,600 but it cleans up very easily.
I had avoided the highest ISO settings based on what I read. Not any more! Too much misinformation out there!

What do you use (proessing wise) to clean up and make nice a ISO of 26,000? Good shot.

It is wonderful that the technology is here to allow you to shoot in the dark with this kind of result...very impressive!

Very nice. When are you taking up shooting deep inside caves?

As a fellow 'night owl' shooter I must say that I'm very impressed by your image taken at such a high ISO. I've attempted, quite unsuccessfully, hi-ISO with my older D70 & D80 cameras with less than satisfactory results. Of course those two cameras pale by comparison to your D3 in raw performance alone.

Nicely done!

This is amazing, Vern. The clarity of the detail of the mural is fabulous, even at that ISO.

What great results. 20 years ago we never would have dreamed of such high ISO (ASA's) or these kind of results
Ed R 26-Mar-2012 15:47
Try that with film! Oh wait... what is film?
carabias26-Mar-2012 15:38

An intriguing scene with this lighting. Almost seems like the figures are animated. Amazing at 25,600iso.
