Our Cherry Tree Down in The Storm

On our first night of spring, we had a snow storm with enough snow to cause trees to fall around town.
One of those trees was in our backyard, an old cherry tree.
Fortunately, it didn't hit anything, though there was a lot it could have fallen on.

What a shame to loose that tree, did it still produce cherries? I love the light in the background!

Oh no - what a pitty Vern, such a big old tree! Fortunately there was nobody damaged!
Well taken shot after all!

Oh my........ We got some crazy weather down here also, Vern. They expect thundershowers this afternoon.

That's too bad! When I built my barn about 7 years ago, I had to cut down the last of our fruit trees, two of which were "classic" cherry trees.

What a welcome to Spring...that warm light in the bg is beautiful!

A pretty shot with a wonderful glow and great feel to the light. A sad event though to lose such a nice old tree.

Oh my that's a lot of snow! Was your tree still producing fruit? We had one when we bought our house, but it quit producing fruit after 7 or 8 years. We thought the tree was over 30yrs old then. We finally chopped it down. To this day I miss that tree; it produced the sweetest Bing cherries.

On a side note. Where I live used to be all orchards- prunes, cherries, and walnuts. Ah the good ole days. Now we're a Metropolis also known as Silicon Valley. ")

What a pity that the trees can not hold up, the storm, hope spring come now! V

Must have been quite the storm.

Wow, from the wind or weight of snow? The tree must have been in bad shape. Linda S

Glad there was no damage to your home. We have had very little snow so far in the east, and the temperature was in the 70s today!

OMG!!! It was 85 here today!

That's sad

It's amazing how a little snow can bring down a big tree like that, it's aways nice when the only thing it hits is the ground.
Barry Ailetcher21-Mar-2012 22:24
To bad you lost it nice shot of it anyway
Bob Moeller21-Mar-2012 22:21
Had a similar experience except the culprit wasn't the snow. It was a young tree and neighborhood kids decided they could hang from the branches. ARRRG

That certainly looks like very wet and heavy snow. Isn't is odd how the weather works. You have snow in the banana belt and we have warm weather with most of the snow all melted away here in the frozen north. In the east they are experiencing some of the warmest March weather ever recorded!

This image reflects the fury of the storm. Nice capture
