The Barn, Cottage Grove OR

This old barn is well known in the area, one of the few remaining that have a billboard ad on the side. It is now within Cottage Grove, mostly surrounded by houses, etc. The owner would like to tear it down. Efforts are being made to save the old barn, as as can be seen in this gallery - http://www.pbase.com/fotabug/the_barncg

These barns are becoming a thing of the past, new barns are aluminum. It is a good thing you can capture them for posterity, they will be gone in the future.

Rare place, superbly taken.

Neat shot of this great old barn. Funny old ad too. Hope it gets saved, but I'm sure the person who owns the property wants to have the final say. . .

A great find this old barn and sign. Well shot.

Such a moody place and building, it's a shame they want to tear down old things too easily! Voted.

lol...great find Vern! (pellets for your horse maybe?) V

What a lovely historic relic, hope it gets saved... but just in case, take plenty of photos! v

Superb capture vern, it sure is sad that they did not take better care of it.

Looks nice, but I can understand the owners problem with it. You can see the bottom is rotting away and it's probably not on a foundation. It'd take 30 grand to get it squared away. Maybe someone will but the materials and rebuild it somewhere?

I sure hope they save it! what a beauty! V

Wonderful shot. I love old barns too, and this one with its vintage ad is a beauty.

It does look like it needs a little TLC. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful image of the barn with the billboard painted right on it.

I'm a fan of old barns as well. Surely do hope it's saved. V

How cool is this? Great find - the fact that it might be gone is a great reason to ensure that good photos of it are taken. Then, gone or perserved in fact, at least there will be pictoral evidence that it once stood.
Chris Cochems 14-Dec-2011 21:09
If only it could be frozen in exactly this condition. Nice shot.
