Carol's Betta Fish (Siamese Fighting Fish)

According to Wikipedia, the wild ancestors of this fish are native to the rice paddies of Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia and are called pla-kad in Thai or trey krem in Khmer.

I used to have a royal blue beta, I had it for a couple of years. The cats were fascinated with it, obviously!

My son has a very similar one, that they kept in a bowl for a very long time. Now it's in the big tank with a number of other fish, but only the one Betta.
